It was a Double for the fillies on Sunday At Hawkesbury as Private Thoughts and Fashchanel broke their Maiden tags in good style.

The flashy daughter of Snitzel Private Thoughts got the day off to a perfect start scoring in the 1000m Maiden Plate. The 3YO was having just her third career start after placing on debut in her first preparation as a 2YO. She was second-up on Sunday at Hawkesbury and drew to get a lovely run from barrier 1. She showed her good gate speed to lead comfortably under the guidance of Rachel King who rated her perfectly in front. Private Thoughts proved too strong for her rivals over the 1000m journey, defeating the second favourite in the race Princess Sunlight (Gerald Ryan).

Private Thoughts was purchased from the 2018 NZB May sale for $120,000 from the Curraghmore Stud Draft. Her breeder, Nearco Stud, whom bred and retained shares in Kuro & Southern Lad also retained a share in Private Thoughts.

Congratulations to her owners Nearco Stud Ltd, Mrs S G Casson, Mr D R Casson, Mrs S Harris, Mr M Voulgaris, Mr J O'Mahoney, Mr M J Scheele, Mr G Seto, Mr K Osswald, Mr S L Curran, Mr A J Luciano, Mr J N Allen

Fashchanel followed the trend 3 races later winning on debut in the 1300m Maiden Plate. A filly by the super sire I Am Invincible out of classy mare Elegant Fashion. She was a $400,000 purchase by Peachester Lodge from Bhima Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Easter Sales. Quickly from the gates Rachel King settled Fashcanel in the lead. Always travelling smoothly Fashchanel showed a good kick off the bend and saw off the challenge of Celandine, still showing her inexperience and greeness late but holding her off in gutsy fashion. It was a pleasing debut from a filly who had just had the two trials previously and she stamps herself as a filly of great potential. She will head towards a race around the festive period.

Well done to her owners Peachester Lodge
