The stable celebrated two wins within 45 minutes at Newcastle on Saturday with progressive staying mare La Grisa breaking her maiden closely followed by a tough debut effort from 3YO Pierro filly Rocha Clock.

La Grisa was having her third career start and stepping up to 1850m for the first time. The daughter of Reliable Man drew the inside gate in the field of 11 runners and travelled kindly for jockey Jeff Penza in a mid-field position. She got off the fence coming around the home turn and was the winner from a long way out- defeating her rivals by 2L. "She's a nice progressive mare who continues to improve with each run- she'll have one more start this prep before returning for some staying races over the autumn" commented John O'Shea after the win.

In the next race, 3YO filly Rocha Clock showed that her two winning trials weren't a fluke. The daughter of Pierro jumped from barrier 8 in the field of 11 runners. She was a touch slow away and mustered speed to be in a positive positon but was caught wide for some distance before finding the lead. She was entitled to weaken over the concluding stages after a tough run but showed tenacity to hold on from the fast finishing Earth Song and Reaching. "That was a huge debut effort- she's a nice filly going places" commented John O'Shea post-race.

Interestingly, both La Grisa & Rocha Clocks' dam's raced against each-other on Derby Day in 2008 in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes with Rocha (Rocha Clock) winning & Miss Scarletti (La Grisa) finishing second. 11 years later, both their daughters would break their maidens on the same day in back-to-back races at the same venue!
